The legend of the Red Brigade believes that the Portuguese star was brought to Anfield to help them hunt better.
Liverpool owns Jota
Liverpool spent £ 41 million to recruit Diogo Jota from the Wolves this summer. The 23-year-old forward’s qualities are considered well suited to the style of play applied by coach Jurgen Klopp.

Jota is a diligent player who combines well with fighting and handling the ball. On his debut, the former Atlético de Madrid member scored a 3-1 goal against Arsenal in the Premier League.
Carragher acknowledged
Jamie Carragher believes the Wolves rookie will be a valuable addition to Liverpool. The Anfield legend especially appreciated Jota’s ability to work off the ball.
Carragher told Sky Sports about his juniors: “Jota can be seen as an energetic monster. When looking at statistics on Liverpool attacking players, perhaps most people look at goals and assists.
“But the most important thing for them is the pressure that comes from the forward. Jota got off to a great start with 1 goal, but the other remarkable part is what he does without the ball.
Carragher also appreciated Jota for his pressure skills. |
“If you stand still when Liverpool lose the ball, even if you have some goals, Klopp will not accept it.”
It will be difficult for Jota to have a regular main kick for Liverpool when they have the terrible attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah. However, Carragher understands that it will be a quality backup for the above three names when needed.
He added: “Where Liverpool needs to get stronger is the provision for Mane. If Salah is outside, you can push Mane to the right flank. It doesn’t have to be a fixed position, the rest can be adjusted if he plays Jota ”.
“I think attacking on the left flank is his strong position.”
