Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Shushan Stepanyan wrote on Facebook that the Armenian Su-25 was on a mission in the country when it was shot down by a Turkish F-16, the pilot was killed. The F-16 is believed to have taken off from an air base in Azerbaijan, according to Sputnik.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry immediately denied that a Turkish F-16 had shot down an Armenian plane.
Turkish presidential adviser Fahrettin Altun also denied the information and accused Armenia of using “cheap propaganda”. Altun reiterated his earlier request that Armenia withdraw from its occupied territory in Azerbaijan, according to Reuters.
The incident came shortly after Altun declared that Turkey was ready to help Azerbaijan regain its occupied territory.
