According to statistics from AFPBy the end of September 27, the number of deaths from Covid-19 worldwide officially exceeded 1 million, out of more than 33 million people with Covid-19.

The United States continues to be the country with the most deaths in the world from this pandemic with more than 200,000 deaths, followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

The pandemic that started in Wuhan, China, late last year, has had a significant impact on the economy, social life, and geopolitical tensions around the world. More than 4 billion people are affected by the blockade and the restrictive measures adopted to prevent the spread of the pandemic. However, when countries began to relax the lockdown and quarantine measures to restore the economy and social life, the number of Covid-19 cases increased dramatically again.

The global scientific community is still racing to develop vaccines. Currently, only Russia has approved the Covid-19 vaccine, while most of the remaining vaccines are in the process of a third clinical trial. The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the number of deaths from Covid-19 could double to 2 million without global cooperation in the development and distribution of vaccines.

“1 million is a terrible number, we must think about it before it reaches 2 million,” said the director of the WHO emergency program, Michael Ryan.

On the economic side, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that Covid-19 could cause an unprecedented global economic crisis.
