The recent Pentagon annual report shows that China has the largest naval force in the world, with a total of 350 warships and submarines, compared to 293 American and Russian ships of about 280 ships.
Tim Pietrack, spokesman for the United States Navy, the Pentagon’s Future Naval Force Study began in January.
Experts propose reducing the number of carriers from 11 to 9 and investing in the construction of four more light carriers. In addition, the study proposed a plan to keep a number of large surface warships between 80 and 90, on par with the existing 89 cruisers and destroyers.
Notably, think tanks suggested adding 65-87 floating unmanned warships and bringing the total number of unmanned submarines to about 60.
Recently, Minister Esper emphasized that the unmanned fleet will play an important role in naval strategy for years to come and even decades to come. According to Esper, unmanned weapons are less expensive and can perform a variety of tasks, from suicide attacks, mines to resupply, or scouting opponents.
