The first instance trial of the allocation of “golden” land at 8-12 Le Duan Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City; abbreviated: 8-12 Le Duan) at the hands of a private company was closed with the imprisonment image for 8 years for the former vice president of the People’s Standing Committee, Nguyen Thanh Tai. In court, the representative of Ho Chi Minh City VKSND stated clearly: “We did not say that the two defendants had an illegal relationship … We do not want to deepen this relationship during the prosecution and adjudication process.”
The VKSND representative said that the prosecutor’s office did not confirm that the relationship between defendant Tai and defendant Thuy was an illegal relationship.
Finally, the defendant Nguyen Thanh Tai burst into tears and apologized to his elderly mother and the people of Ho Chi Minh City. “I never betrayed my city” – said the defendant through tears.
