The Kremlin said the Novichok psychoactive water bottle could be evidence of the incident involving opposition politician Alexei Navalny, but it was withdrawn from Russia.
“We cannot explain this because if that bottle of water existed, they would have taken it to Germany or some other place. So what could be evidence of a poison was removed.” This raises the question why. There is too much nonsense in this story to consider anybody’s story true, “said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The comment came after a team of aides to Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny said on September 17 that they had found a water bottle with traces of the nerve agent Novichok in the hotel room where Navalny was staying. in Tomsk (Siberia) before going to the airport to return to Moscow on 8/20.
The bottle was found by Mr. Navalny’s team about an hour after he passed out on the flight. Then a laboratory in Germany tested and discovered the Novichok neurotoxin in the water bottle. Later, several other laboratories also carried out tests and confirmed that Mr. Navalny was affected by nerve toxicity.
Western countries suspect that Mr. Navalny was poisoned and asked Russia to open a criminal investigation to clarify. However, Moscow says more evidence is needed before deciding to launch a criminal investigation. Russia also asked Germany to provide Navalny with medical data to consider the case.
