Forward Di María could face a six-game suspension with a clip showing the Argentine star spitting on Marseille defender Álvaro González.
Marseille’s Álvaro González was at the center of a fight that resulted in five players being sent off in PSG’s loss to Marseille at Prince’s Park on Sunday.
Neymar accused González of racist behavior by calling him a “bastard monkey”, but Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas defended his player and said that González was not a racist. At the same time, the clan accused Di María of spitting on the central.
And he recently posted a clip in support of the allegations by coach Andre Villas-Boas. In the clip published by Telefoot, the slow-motion footage shows Di María apparently spitting at González as the Argentine star passes his face.
González reacted with fury and yelled in response to the Argentine. Previously, Pascal Garibian, the referee’s technical director, explained after the game that the VAR had not found an image that would confirm Di María’s spitting accusations.
“At that time we were looking for video evidence, but we did not have it. We did not confirm the behavior or not, but there are no video images to support the allegation,” said Pascal Garibian.
But with the appearance of the aforementioned clip, a Ligue 1 disciplinary committee will investigate and Di María will face a six-match ban. Spitting is considered a serious violation of the Covid-19 prevention rule, so the Argentine star is likely to receive a hefty fine.
Not only is Di María the only person facing a heavy penalty, but his teammate Neymar also has the ability to receive a 7-match penalty when he has a cold fight against González.
After the game, Neymar wrote on his Instagram to expose the incident: “In our sport, aggression, insults, swearing are part of the game, of the dispute. I understand this guy. (González) deliberately caused this. It’s part of the game, but racism is not acceptable. “
