1 order, 4 business days: it is the training to overcome challenges

Although the incident went on for a whole month, Viet Tam (28, in Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) is not over yet.

That time, Mr. Tam received an order to buy a birthday cake from a famous pastry brand. Cake prices up to 800,000 VND. Seeing the high price, the customer paid cash, so Mr. Tam called to confirm. Customers always say “ok, ok”. This sender must have ripped the bag to buy bread to deliver. Interestingly, when delivery time comes, the customer “disappears” again and turns off the phone.

“At that time, I could not light the fire, I could not drive, because the amount was too large. Running all day for 50 – 60 km was almost 200,000 VND. I calculated that it was also 4 days of delivery. I hastened to inform the company. But after that it took me three days, through a lot of cumbersome paperwork, they gave me enough money back. Since then, when I saw the app reporting orders of 200,000 VND or more, I was shaking. “recalled Mr. Tam and He added: “Sender life, maybe everyone got hit a couple times with a ‘bomb’ like that. Cup of tea with milk, eat 2 hot pots once. Very unfortunate.”

Together on Thanh Thai Street (District 10), Thanh Vinh (19 years old, in District 10) looked at the phone and muttered: “There are already orders, but they are noodles. They are not like the previous one.”

That “previous wave” half a month ago, Vinh received an order to buy 3 servings of noodles delivered to an apartment district in District 7. Upon arrival, Vinh knew that the receiving address was the home of a male singer who won the first prize in a music competition.

“The singer said he did not place an order. He asked me to call the order number. It turned out that the person who made the order was a fan, he wanted to buy food for the idols. But let the idol … pay. Now the story is very popular. Many people freely order the idols to order this dish and then the idol does not accept it, so the carrier cries and cries, “said Vinh.

Vinh Bao, that’s just one of the cherished situations he encountered. There was a time that she “exploded”, she rushed to the restaurant to look for food. But many customers, the store operated for a long time, forced to wait. But customers continually regretted it. Spending almost ten kilometers, handing them over, they cursed “noodle soup.” , don’t eat, pay, don’t pay ”. On another occasion, I brought a hot pot of meat to a family in District 10. The couple fought over the garlic, got mad and then pissed off … Receiving the goods. I was crying, “Vinh recalled.

The sender comes in many forms, the most common being food delivery. In addition, there is also technology delivery, or professional delivery, working in companies, shops, or free delivery, working for store owners: fashion, flowers … But although as a sender, almost all the “taste pains” sometimes.

“I work as a carrier for a delivery company. Once it was 10 in the morning, I arrived at the place of the reception address, I called to tell them to pick up the merchandise. They insulted me and slapped me …” … breaking the dream. Although they stay home, but “excuse me” … they are sleeping, I have to wait a few days to deliver the goods, “Mr. Huu Tai (35 years old, in District 7), regret.

Save the days of unemployment

Although the delivery times are exhausting, bitter, although the life of the carrier is very painful, it is true that there are still many people who try to stick to this profession. For them, the money, albeit a bit, flattering insults and harsh words from customers, also helped them get through the tough days.

The first wave of COVID-19 in early 2020 left many workers unemployed. Le Tan (26, from Bac Lieu) was originally a worker in a garment company in the Thu Duc district (HCMC). But three months ago the company ran into trouble due to COVID-19, staff cuts, So unemployed. You signed up as a sender in Grab.

He said, executing between 16 and 20 orders per day, getting between 300,000 and 400,000 VND. “Despite the hard work, the rain and the sun and the ‘curses’ all day, the wages of the carriers are more than the wages of previous workers,” he said.

Not only Tan, currently in the team of loaders there are people who are workers of companies of footwear, seafood, clothing … After being unemployed, they choose to do delivery work for their livelihood. Some people enter this profession for a few months, others take longer. But most see delivery as their main job.

With current delivery applications, depending on the application that charges differently, they range from 4,000 – 5,000 VND / 1 km. Consequently, if each order has a delivery distance of 5 km, the sender will receive 20,000 VND (minus 20% for the application).

“Plowing, every day trying to fulfill 15-20 orders, I get almost 400,000 VND, enough money to take my wife to the market, buy milk for my children …”, Quoc Bao (32 years old, Binh district Thanh), speak. Three months ago, Bao was a worker for an electronic components company in District 9, but was later forced to quit his job.

Tuan Huu (30 years old, in Tan Phu district) has two daughters aged 4 and 8. His wife used to work as a laborer, but now she stays home to take care of her children.

Huu shared: “Making a sender is hard. Going out all day and night, not to mention the many times they meet customers” chatting “, like cursing, getting inspired to cancel orders … But if you know how OK, I am diligent and I can bear the shame I can do to earn money. To be honest, thanks to being a carrier, I have money to pay for the inn, to cover four meals at home. ”

Also because he tried to earn money for his family life, every 6 am, Mr. Huu would go out on the street, fire up the application, wait to receive orders, then accumulate 12,000, 15,000, 20,000 VND each and take it to his wife. Several times the guest “boa” an extra 2,000, 3,000 dong, thanked him whistling …

It’s not easy to be rewarded

Most of the delivery apps have bonus programs (bonus per day and bonus per golden hour) to encourage the driving partner. The bonus of the golden hour frame is from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day, if the driver receives the task, he will be rewarded with 9,000 VND. On weekends only, an additional 2,000 VND will be awarded.

And each driver, upon reaching the milestone of 8, 15, 20, 25 orders, will be rewarded in turn with the levels of 70,000, 150,000, 210,000 and 280,000 dong. However, the requirement is that the completion rate (number of applications completed / total number of applications received) must be at least 75%. That is the reason why, although the order only costs between 12,000 and 15,000 VND, the drivers accept it and do not dare to reject it. They fear that completion rates won’t qualify for a bonus.

But very often, the customer suddenly cancels the request, even though the driver has received the goods, it is still a dream to receive the award. Especially after the COVID-19 translation, many restaurants closed their stores and received the request and had to cancel it.
