In 1985, the Soviet Union helped Vietnam build further, and the bridge was completed on May 9, 1985 under the Soviet Union’s non-reimbursable aid program. All Thang Long Bridge steel stages are expertly designed, fabricated and shipped for installation.

Because the Soviet Union (now Russia) helped Vietnam build a later stage, when the bridge surface deteriorated, we would get in touch and invite Russia to help. Two years ago, they were able to connect with Maria Sakharova, the former owner of the technology to make the Thang Long Bridge, to support and help. However, due to her old age, she sent Mr. Kazaryan, CEO of a Russian construction company, to conduct a survey and provide support.

This man went from Russia to Vietnam to meet and exchange with the leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the Directorate of Roads. However, you asked to pay 7% of the total value of the repair (about VND 14 billion) and you have to transfer money up front.

Regarding the information of the Thang Long Bridge that was invited by American companies to repair according to American technology, Mr. Sy stated that in fact there are some American companies that come to offer, but through contact, only offer glue. clinging to the road surface, it is not reliable enough, so the Ministry of Transport and the Directorate of Roads cannot cooperate.

The project has no extraneous elements

Mr. Sy said that the Thang Long Bridge repair project is part of the overall planning program of the Ministry of Transport. In October 2019, the project obtained the investment license.

Bridge construction work from preparation, research and implementation is 100% Vietnamese engineers.
Due to the important nature of the project, the Ministry of Transport has established a Steering Committee to repair the surface of the Thang Long Bridge, which now consists of 17 members headed by Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho.

To build the Thang Long Bridge project, the contractor has to purchase construction equipment and machinery. In which, the project contractor purchased a wet mixed concrete spreader from China.

According to the equipment purchase contract, there will be 2 technicians to operate and transfer the contractor workers.

Currently, the construction elements on the site are being implemented simultaneously, the preparation for the construction of UHPC concrete is still carried out according to the expected progress, and the input of technicians does not affect the progress. implementation of the project, “said Mr. Sy.

Based on progress at the end of September, this will pour the first batch of concrete onto the bridge’s surface and the entire project will be completed as scheduled for the end of this year.

Vietnam Highway Directorate said: The solution to repair the surface of the Thang Long Bridge uses European core technology.
The entire process of research and proposal of construction repair and execution solutions is carried out by local consultants and construction contractors with the technical assistance of the main experts in the structural field. national materials, do not receive technology transfer from any country.

For project building materials, mainly domestic materials, spreader, concrete compactor, the contractor may have to import from Korea, Japan, China, Europe … or can manufacture by himself.

The work of raking, cleaning the old bridge surface coating, building the adhesion layer and the polymer concrete mat is done by engineers, technicians and workers from Phuong Thanh Company.
