Consequently, Vinh Duc Hospital is treating three cases of food poisoning suspected of being infected with the botulinum bacteria from the Minh Chay pate. Patients included: LTVK (30 years, resident Ai Nghia, Dai Loc), VTH (65 years, resident in Dien Duong ward, Dien Ban), and NTN (15 years, resident in Thanh Ha ward, Hoi An).
The patients were admitted to the emergency room on September 1 and 2 with signs such as fatigue, shortness of breath, blurred vision, double vision, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, muscle weakness …
In informing doctors, one of the three patients said that he had previously received a nun in a temple for a box of pate branded Minh Chay.
On August 27, this man brought this box of pate in two loaves of bread and then shared it with many people to eat. From noon 1-9, one of the many people who ate snacks was hospitalized for poisoning, until tonight 3-9 a total of three people who ate the bread were hospitalized.
“The patient’s health is now fine. Symptoms such as blurred vision, difficulty swallowing, muscle weakness have decreased somewhat,” the Vinh Duc Hospital report indicated.
On the afternoon of September 3, the Quang Nam Province Department of Hygiene and Food Safety also went to Vinh Duc Hospital to work and take samples for testing.
