Patient 1045 is being treated in the intensive care unit of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Currently, the patient’s lungs are still very bad, but the indicators are temporarily stable, the lung infection is well controlled. Because the specific cause of the superinfection has yet to be found, clinicians must still continue to monitor and run tests to quickly locate alongside treatment.

Dr. Pham Van Phuc also emphasized that patient 1045 began to have fever symptoms from August 19, the hospitalization time was day 12 from the onset of the disease.

People with Covid-19 generally deteriorate between days 7 and 14 after onset, the above case is at that stage. Doctors have determined that the patient may be getting worse, so they are trying to control it.

“The patient is temporarily not at risk of having to perform an ECMO, but if the lung condition worsens, abnormal progress may need to use this method,” the doctor added.

In the next time, the patient will continue to be fully evaluated, using antibiotics, antivirals, anticoagulants and maintenance of the respiratory system to support breathing.

Patient 1045 is a man, 72 years old, with an address in Thong Nhat commune, Gia Loc district, Hai Duong, the source of Covid-19 is unknown. According to information from the Ministry of Health, on August 19 this person became ill with a fever, headache, and fatigue. On August 30, the patient was admitted to the hospital, examined, and quarantined at Hai Duong General Hospital.

On September 1, results from the Hai Duong Center for Disease Control and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology showed that this person was positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The patient was transferred to isolation, treatment, confirmatory sampling at the base of Dong Anh Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, with a positive result on September 2.

In addition to case 1045, the Department of Active Rehabilitation of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases is also treating two other serious cases of Covid-19, patients 793 and 867.

Patient 793 (male, 58 years old, in Bac Giang) is the most severe case in the north at the moment, he has performed ECMO since August 26. Dr. Phuc reported that, on the afternoon of September 3, the patient was withdrawn from ECMO because the lung condition was better, the infection was also well controlled after finding the cause. The patient is currently undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation and is being closely monitored for progress.

Patient 867 (male, 63 years old, Tan Hong Commune, Binh Giang District, Hai Duong) is healthy, with no signs of abnormalities. Patients will be declared cured after having had sufficient negative times for SARS-CoV-2 in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
