Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security prosecutes and detains Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung in custody

On August 28, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security announced that it had decided to prosecute the defendant against Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, President of UND Hanoi, to investigate the appropriation of state secret documents.

Mr. Chung was also arrested and detained for four months, according to the notice from the Ministry of Public Security.

The Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office has approved the previous decisions and orders.

It is reported that Mr. Chung, born in 1967, resides in Trung Liet Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi City, and is currently the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee. He was arrested for the act of “appropriation of secret State documents” specified in article 337 of the Penal Code of 2015, modified and supplemented in 2017.

The Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office has approved the previous decisions and orders.

It is known that the investigation of the Ministry of Public Security alleged that Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung was involved in three cases:

– The appropriation of secret State documents investigated by the Investigating Security Agency, the Ministry of Public Security processed the case.

– The smuggling case – Violation of accounting rules has serious consequences – Money laundering – Violation of tendering rules causes serious consequences – occurs at Nhat Cuong Trading and Technical Services Co., Ltd. (Nhat Cuong Company) , Hanoi Planning and Investment Department and various related units.

– The case of Violation of the regulations on the handling and use of State assets, causing losses and waste, occurred in the city of Hanoi.

On August 11, the Politburo decided to suspend the activities of the Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee and to suspend the post of undersecretary of the Hanoi Party Committee to Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung for verification. research.

Before being chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung was famous as the director of the city police, the rank of major general.

The investigation and security agency of the Ministry of Public Security recently issued a decision to prosecute the accused and execute the arrest warrant against these men:

– Nguyen Anh Ngoc (46 years old), a resident of the Bo De neighborhood, Long Bien district, who works in the editorial secretary’s room, the attendance team of the Hanoi People’s Committee;

– Nguyen Hoang Trung (37 years old), resident of Bach Dang neighborhood, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi city, is the driver of Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, also an expert in the Secretariat – Border Office. Internship, Hanoi City People’s Committee Office;

– Pham Quang Dung (37 years old), a resident of Tan Trieu Commune, Thanh Tri District, Hanoi City, is a police officer of C03, Ministry of Public Security.

They were charged with “appropriation of state secret documents.”
