Toyota Motor Vietnam has just informed the Department of Competition and Consumer Protection (Ministry of Industry and Commerce) about the recall program for Camry, Corolla and Innova cars manufactured, assembled and distributed by this company. The total number of affected cars is up to 29,513 units, produced between 2013 and 2019.
Specifically, Toyota Vietnam recalled 29,513 vehicles of all kinds to test, change fuel pumps, and filter. Including 3,060 Camry cars (produced from December 30, 2017 to March 25, 2019); 5,837 Corolla cars (produced from January 16, 2018 to January 31, 2019) and 20,616 Innova cars (produced from January 23, 2017 to April 3-4, 2019).
The cause of the recall is that, according to Toyota Vietnam, affected vehicles may have an error light and warning information on the dash, the engine will shake, the engine will not start, or the engine will stop while it is running. At Low Speed Even vehicles have the ability to stop when running at high speed, increasing the risk of collisions.
In addition, Toyota Vietnam also announced the recall of the car to test and replace fuel pumps with 3,763 vehicles in imported CBU cars such as Lexus, Land Cruiser 200, Alphard and Fortuner.
Toyota Vietnam will inspect and replace the fuel pump and filter free of charge for vehicles in this recall, with a time of 1.7 hours to 4.2 hours. The implementation time is from June 1, 2020 to June 1, 2023.
Previously, Mitsubishi in Vietnam and the Philippines also had to withdraw the Xpander due to a fuel pump failure.
According to an auto expert, The faulty gasoline pump is one of the dangerous mistakes in cars. Especially during traffic, the car stops suddenly, if the driver is inexperienced, it is very difficult to drive, the risk of an accident is unpredictable.
Normally, when the vehicle is stationary, the driver will not be able to drive smoothly, making it difficult for the rear vehicle to avoid causing an easy collision.
