Male patient (64 years old, from Binh Luc, Ha Nam province) has been treated in the Gastrointestinal Department of Ha Nam General Hospital since March 20 with terminal cirrhosis, exhaustion, severe gout. stiffness, muscle atrophy. This death is Case 251 that was cured of Covid-19 and has been discharged for more than 2 weeks.

Previously, on April 7, the patient who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, was transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases to treat Covid-19, becoming case number 251.

After 4 times of negative SARS-CoV-2 results in 10, 12, 15, and 17-4 days, 251 patients were determined to be cured and no longer had Covid-19 infection. Other diseases are stable, referral to treat cirrhosis from April 17.

Due to very severe cirrhosis in the final stage, before death, the patient presents coma due to severe impairment of liver function and electrolyte disturbance. The patient died with a diagnosis of terminal cirrhosis.

When the patient died, the Ha Nam General Hospital performed a negative SARS-CoV-2 test, the patient had no symptoms of lung damage caused by Covid-19.

From May 4 to 5, the Professional Council of the Ministry of Health met with the main experts and determined that this death was not caused by Covid-19.

As of May 13, Vietnam has not registered any cases of death due to Covid-19 and 27 days in Vietnam there were no cases in the community. Currently, there are 252/288 patients with Covid-19 in our country announced to be cured / discharged from the hospital, which represents 88% of the total cases treated. Currently, 36 patients are being treated in 6 health centers at the central and provincial level. Most patients have stable health.
