The door of the Dinh Diem hammock, currently stored in the communal house of the Diem people, Hoa Long commune (Bac Ninh city) made of wood materials since 1692, is a masterpiece of elite carving art Le art. Trung Hung. In January 2020, the hammock door was declared a National Treasure.
Dinh Diem is the largest temple architecture in Kinh Bac. Especially, the door of the Diem family hammock is now the “unique” national treasure for the virtuosity of carving techniques.
The hammock door has a height of 7 m and a width of almost 4 m, it is divided into four floors.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bich (from the Diem Communal House) said that the hammock door is of great artistic value. It is the value of the sculptural art of some images of people during this temple period. The main images include: dragon, fairy, lotus, phoenix, tree leaf … showing the real life of the field.
“Each floor is decorated with different themes, but the four floors have a harmonious and flexible connection, bringing beauty to life,” said the minister.
The third floor of the hammock door is the center, the most prominent because this floor is painted with a shiny gold business card. Each little line is carefully decorated. Images of dragons, clouds, and fire are the mainstream. Each door is shaped like a dragon’s head.
