According to the Daily Mail, the mission to rescue British citizens was carried out by the British embassy in conjunction with Gurkha fighters. Soldiers have been traversing the rugged terrain for three weeks to reach the place where British citizens are trapped, the British Foreign Ministry (FCO) said.

The mission is joined by Gurkha warriors from the Nepalese network, stationed in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dharan. Last month, Gurkha militants rescued 109 British citizens and 28 foreigners, helping them board their return flights.

Gurkha is a minority community in Nepal, famous for its fighting ability and discipline.

Gurkha soldiers are considered one of the best fighting combatants in the world. Gurkha warriors are renowned for their extraordinary courage in battle and are now exceptionally recruited into the British Army.

British citizens trapped in Nepal were rescued by Gurkha fighters.

Sergeant Prakash Gurung of the 29th Regiment, British Royal Logistics Corps, was the one who crossed dangerous roads to rescue a British tourist who was climbing alone in Manang in northwestern Nepal.

Sergeant Parakash rushed to take this tourist to the Nepalese capital, Nepal, at 9:30 am to take the flight back to England.

Sergeant Gurung is an experienced veteran of the British Army missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Kenya and Germany. “I immediately offered to accept the assignment because it was my duty,” said Sergeant Gurung.

“Helping people in dangerous situations is my motivation,” said Gurung. “Everyone always encourages me, gives me the strength to do the task.”

The Covid-19 epidemic erupted globally, causing the aviation industry to be paralyzed. Many British tourists are trapped in the Himalayas due to a delayed transport network.

Gurkha warriors often have to sleep through the night due to long missions and difficult journeys.

Many Gurkha warriors participated in the overnight camping mission, right on the road due to the dangerous long trip, the FCO said.

British Ambassador to Nepal Nicola Pollitt said: “Retrieving British citizens from remote and dangerous areas poses a great challenge. We cannot return everyone without the support of the Gurkha units. “

Lt. Col. Peter Wettenhall, deputy commander of the Gurkhas Force in Nepal, said: “The rescue mission is completely consistent with the role of the force and we always carry out the assigned task.”

“We are delighted to be able to assist the embassy and assist British citizens during this difficult time in Nepal,” added Lt. Col. Wetterhall.
