Moscow and some other areas of Russia have adopted a blockade since the end of March to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. Russia is currently one of the hot spots of the Covid-19 outbreak in the world with almost 200,000 cases, of which more than 1,800 have died. Moscow is the worst affected region in Russia, accounting for half of all illnesses and deaths in the entire country.

Last week, Russia recorded a daily record of more than 10,000 Covid-19 cases. Authorities explain this in part because health officials have begun increasing the scope of their tests.
