Each review period will have 10 award winning mathematicians. The award requires young mathematicians who are not over 35, have European citizenship, or work in Europe, to make outstanding contributions to mathematics.
After 8 awards, this year, for the first time, a young Vietnamese mathematician was honored.
In terms of honor, this award is almost the second after the World Mathematical Society Fields Award. Most of the mathematicians who received the EMS award became the world’s great mathematicians.
Statistics show that 11 mathematicians received an EMS award and a Fields Award.
