Recently, residents of the Indonesian village of Teluk Lanus in the Siak region of Indonesia set traps and caught a 4-meter saltwater crocodile in the Lukar delta after suspecting that it had eaten a farmer named Syafri.
This unfortunate man and his friend placed a fish trap in the Lakar when they were attacked by crocodiles. Syafri was dragged into the river by the crocodile while his friend was with him, he was lucky to escape.
The saltwater crocodile is one of the true monsters of modern times. |
Shortly after the incident, Teluk Lanus officials and villagers organized a search but found no victims. His left leg was found alone in the swamp, not far from the attack.
After efforts to slide down the swamp and the Lakar River, people finally caught the crocodile and decided to peck at it to see if it had eaten the victim.
The Jakarta Post reported that parts of the victim were found in the crocodile’s stomach.
The head of the local nature conservation unit, Heru Sutmantoro, said he was very sorry for the incident. There have long been warnings for people to stay away from the saltwater crocodile habitat in that area.
There have been numerous crocodile attacks in the past that occurred in the Lakar region. Perhaps the victim did not know that this is the habitat of the saltwater crocodiles.
He also regrets when the surface water crocodile is killed because it is one of the wild animals protected by law. However, there will be no punishment for people.
