Initially, around 6 p.m. on the same day, 500 tons of self-propelled barge (about 30 m long, almost 4 m high) with the number DT-25683 do not transport cargo that circulates on the Cai River, an arm from the Dong Nai River in the downstream to upstream direction.

When the Rach Cat bridge crossing is halfway there, the cabin behind the barge tangles with the wall of the bridge. At the same time, the high tide rises rapidly, causing the barge to get stuck under the bridge.

According to some witnesses at the scene, at the time of capture, the driver of the boat with a water pump pressed the barge to sink to escape. However, because the high tide rose too fast, the barge got stuck.

Upon receiving the news, the militia, the local police were present to block the Rach Cat bridge, preventing the passage of motorcycles. At the same time, the water traffic police, fire prevention and rescue are also present to support.

As noted, the competent forces pumped water into the compartment to submerge the barge. A shear drill is also used to drill a few points under the belly of the barge for faster water entry.

During the “rescue” time of the barge, two passenger trains passed over the Rach Cat Bridge. To ensure the bridge’s safety, rail personnel drive the train at a speed of 5 km / h.

According to a traffic inspector, this river route is only accessible to small boats, barges and large boats are prohibited.

At 8:20 pm, the “rescue” was completed, the barge was pulled downstream.

Initially determined because the barge made a mistake, violating traffic law. Authorities will verify and handle violations in accordance with regulations.

In the immediate future, the damage caused by the above problem cannot be determined. Dong Nai Province Police continue to coordinate with the Vietnam Department of Transportation and Railway Corporation to recheck and ensure security.

The Rach Cat Bridge (also known as Dong Nai Nho Bridge) is an iron bridge that spans the Cai River, a branch of the branch of the Dong Nai River that flows around the Pho islet, connecting the Quyet Thang neighborhood with the neighborhood of Hiep Hoa. The bridge serves the North-South railway line on the Bien Hoa-Di An section.

The Rach Cat Bridge was built at the same time as the Ghenh Bridge in the early 20th century, only about 500 meters from the bridge. Both bridges over the Dong Nai River were designed, manufactured and completed by the Eiffel Company in 1903. In March 2016, the Ghe Bridge collapsed after being struck by a barge. Until July 2016, the Ghenh Bridge was restored and re-circulated.
