30 self-nominated people for the National Assembly in Hanoi

At the end of the time to receive the candidacy documents, the Hanoi Electoral Commission received 30 self-proclaimed candidates for the XV National Assembly, fewer than in the previous elections.

At 5:00 pm on March 14, the reception of the candidates for the XV National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the period 2021-2026 at the Electoral Commission office at all levels in Hanoi (No. 18 B, Le Thanh Tong) finished according to regulations.

The Electoral Commission of Hanoi received 72 candidacy files for the XV National Assembly, of which 42 were recommended by agencies and organizations and 30 were self-proclaimed. The number of candidates for the Hanoi People’s Council is 188, of which 185 people came forward and 3 were self-sourced.

In the election for deputies of the 14th National Assembly and the Hanoi City People’s Council for the period 2016-2021, Hanoi had 48 self-appointed members of the National Assembly and 9 self-appointed members of the City People’s Council.

Dr. Nguyen Khac Ha, 61, Vietnam Commendation and Emulation Director, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, self-proclaimed for the XV National Assembly. He said that on March 8 he began to learn how to profile and compare the standards of candidates for the National Assembly. The next morning, he went to the Electoral Commission headquarters, asked officials for instructions on how to write, and received the records to return home. On the afternoon of March 10, he completed all the applications, submitted them, and was received by the officer.

“I am running for deputies of the National Assembly with the desire to contribute ideas, theoretical bases and scientific bases to amend the Law of Emulation and Commendation to adapt it to the current development practice of the country,” said Mr. Ha and explained that many classes of people and companies want to be recognized by the State and local authorities for their contributions to the country, society and the community, thus gaining greater motivation, construction, economic and social development. However, the Emulation and Commendation Act has not covered all of these cases.

According to Mr. Ha, the candidacy profile for deputies to the National Assembly is “quite simple and fast, and the instructors are very specific.” For example, the letters that you abbreviated, have instructions to write clearly. Comparing with the standards of the deputies in the National Assembly, Mr. Ha “has the belief that he will be elected.” “With my own enthusiasm, I hope people trust and vote,” said Mr. Ha.

By participating in the self-nomination for member of the Hanoi City People’s Council for the period 2021-2026, Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Tra, 48, who works at A Tho Nhuom Kindergarten, wants to contribute directly to the construction of educational policies of the city. “If I am elected, I would like to dedicate a small part to building a perfect and modern educational environment in the capital, especially preschool education,” shared Ms Tra.

Hanoi held the first consultation meeting, negotiating the structure, composition, number and number of people from agencies, organizations and units to be nominated as deputies of the National Assembly, XV period, delegates, City Council period 2021-2026. Consequently, the elected deputies to the National Assembly are 29, the number of nominated candidates is 59; The number of elected deputies to the Popular Council of the city was 95, the number of nominated candidates was 190.

On May 23, voters across the country will vote for members of the 10th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.

In the election of deputies to the XIV National Assembly, Hanoi had 48 self-proclaimed people. After the third round of consultations, only two people were chosen. One of the two then elected, becoming a member of the 14th National Assembly, is Mr. Nguyen Anh Tri (when he was elected as Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion).
