On November 8, Joe Biden confirmed that he won the 2020 White House race and many leaders around the world have sent their congratulations since then.
According to RT, Beijing’s congratulations came just hours after US media reported that Biden had won in Arizona, garnering a total of 290 electoral votes, far more than the 270 required to win under the rules.
Although many countries have admitted that the victory is believed to have belonged to Biden, there are some notable exceptions. For example, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he wants to wait until the lawsuits are finalized before recognizing who the next president of the United States is.
Some other countries, including Russia, showed signs that they would wait for Biden to be officially recognized as a winner before sending out congratulations.
