Vanilla Ice plans a 90s-themed concert on July 4th in Texas

The coronavirus cannot put these 4th of July celebrations on ice.

Singer Vanilla Ice announced via Instagram that she will host a throwback concert on July 4 in Austin, Texas, one of the states currently seeing an increase in coronavirus cases.

Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, said the concert will feature hit songs from the 90s.

“The 90s were the best. We had no coronaviruses, no cell phones, and no computers. We had 5.0, blockbusters, Beavis and Butthead, Wayne’s World, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan … Mortal Kombat is still better than Fortnight … the last of the great decades, “he wrote in the post.

The place, Emerald Point Bar & Grill, sits on the shores of Lake Travis and features an open-air restaurant, as well as expansive grounds that it claims will help keep everyone within CDC’s guidelines of social alienation.

Texas, which has seen an increase of nearly 8,000 new cases in the past week, has been forced to close all its bars and restaurants to prevent the outbreak. The city of Austin itself has seen a positive test rate of 28 percent.
