We’ve told you that we think the best PC games of 2020 (well, as far as we can fit), but what of the cold, hard business? For those who want metrics and money, Valve has unveiled the best-selling games on Steam 2020. Mind you, they’re a little vague about it.
Valve avoids giving numbers or giving crucial rankings for anything. They sort games into ‘bands’, often do not explain the defined metrics, and shuffle side effects in the order they are presented. So you can broadly see who is the most successful, but not the ones who are the most successful and how none compare to their band. And they are missing the end of December (and therefore the Steam Winter Cell), OVVS.
For your convenience, I have rearranged all the list of valves in alphabetical order. I have also included only the top bands as well. The full list of games (many, many more games) is on Steam right now (switch classes with tabs), with a few extra words from Valve.
Top Vendors by 2020 Revenue
Covers the game’s plus DLC and the purchase price of the game. The list is largely the same as you’d expect, it’s impressive that Cyberpunk 2077 was formed despite its unveiling in December. And it’s neat that we made a revenue list even though it cost only 4. This year the whole people are skeptical of their friends.

Valve says the list goes through revenue within two weeks of publication. Again, a lot of things you’d expect, though I’m surprised that many pre-epic games stores make such a big steam debut despite being ‘out’ for months exclusive. And while many of them are covered by Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, clearly many people prefer to buy them.

Not based on sales, this. The most played category goes by the top concurrent players in 2020, with the top level game having broken 200,000. It’s mostly the big multiplayer games you’d expect, plus the cyberpunk Ovis, then the amazing look of life is weird. Great, LIS!

It has nothing to do with sales. Even as a Destiny player, whose raid group includes someone on the controller, I am surprised to see it here. This is probably because MMOFPS has enough players to push brutally to bring it to the top level.
