During the live broadcast of Global Citizen’s “Global Goal: Unite For Our Future” on Saturday (June 27), Usher released his new single “I Cry.”
With powerful lyrics like “I cry for fatherless children and the pain mothers have in the background,” Usher’s new album sends a deep message of empathy and compassion.
“If you choose to take the lead in the protests, if you choose to take the lead in publishing or republishing something, you should know that you are not alone and we can change this,” he said previously. to Billboard. “I just know that you are not alone and that we are together in this fight.”
He added: “I hope that everyone, African Americans and those who are black in other countries, those who receive prejudice or injustice, know that they are not alone. We are constantly fighting for this. I am fighting for reality. If Dr. King and all the people who have become motivators for me had a dream, now I am fighting for reality. I want to see it. I want it in real time. I want to go as far as I can to help the whole world to solve it.
Proceeds from Usher’s “I Cry” performance will go to the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, a nonprofit organization designed to help small black and minority business owners affected by the economic spiral caused by the pandemic COVID-19.
