It may not have turned out that way, but Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League world is the same where the Arkham games took place.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League developer Rocksteady has confirmed that the game actually takes place in the Arkham universe that the studio founded all those years ago.
This is interesting, although Batman does not show up, it is assumed that the Harley Quinn seen in the reveal trailer is the same one we ran in the Arkham games. Indeed, according to Rocksteady co-founder Sefton Hill, Suicide Squad will continue with certain plot threads from those games.
That said, Kill the Justice League obviously takes place in Metropolis rather Gotham, so you would not have to appear every character from Arkham.
“This is a continuation of the Arkhamverse, so many of the threads and storylines you’ll be seeing will be executed in this game,” Hill said, though without elaborating further here.
This is the reverse of the situation of the Gotham Knights, where players immediately assume that the story takes place after the events of Arkham Knight, only for developer WB Games Montreal to clarify that it does not, and in fact is set in a new world apart from the Arkham games.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is much further than Gotham Knights, so expect details about the former to be pretty bad compared to the last one entering next year. The game is in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
