We know from previous trailers that the second season of The umbrella academy sends the Hargreeves brothers to the 1960s, where they must unite to save the Apocalypse (again). But a fresh look at this season’s opening scene shows that the Apocalypse is coming sooner rather than later.
In this clip from episode 1, Five falls from a spinning vortex on November 25, 1963, only to find downtown Dallas on fire, Soviet tanks storming the city, and, of course, his brothers in the middle of it all. And as with all the iconic action sequences on the show, an unexpected choice of music begins to play: Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”.
Based on the Gerard Way comic (yes, that Gerard Way), The umbrella academy Follow six superpowered brothers raised by an eccentric and controlling father who reunites after his death. The first season ended with the end of the world and the brothers jumping through a whirlpool of time vortices, which apparently abandoned them all in the 1960s.
The second season of The umbrella academy drops on Netflix on July 31.
