Zara Tindall, the queen’s granddaughter, is pregnant with her third child, her husband revealed.

Former England rugby captain Mike Tindall made the announcement on the latest episode of his podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.

“It’s been a good week for me, I had a little scan last week, the third Tindall on the way,” he said.

“I’ll love it if it’s a boy or a girl, but please be a boy.”

The couple, who live on the Gatcombe royal estate in Gloucestershire, already have two children, Mia, six, and Lena, two, and have been married since 2011.

Referencing the year’s events, Tindall told fellow co-hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne: “We’re not sure what to do, Covi or Covina, I don’t know where to go with the names.”

In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, Ms. Tindall, a decorated jumper, spoke of the pain she suffered after going through two miscarriages.

Speaking of her past experiences, Tindall added: “Z is very good, always careful about things that have happened in the past, and really wanting to do it.”

Royal pregnancies are usually announced by Buckingham Palace, which has so far not issued a statement.

Tindall stopped short of disclosing the baby’s due date, telling her podcast co-hosts, “We like to play our cards close to the chest.”

He added that they hadn’t told their eldest daughter Mia yet, but will now that the scan has been done.

“She will be happy about that, she has been requesting another sister or brother so we hope we fulfilled that role for her.

“She just wants something different now, Lena is growing up and now she’s two and a half years old, she wants something younger to play with and dress up with.”
