The Yorkshire Ripper has been rushed to hospital in Durham after suffering a suspected heart attack.
Serial killer Peter Sutcliffe was reportedly rushed to A&E at North Durham University Hospital on Wednesday night (October 28).
It was initially thought that he might have contracted coronavirus when rushed to the hospital, The Sun reported.
According to the newspaper, he has been handcuffed to a bed in a private room and is being treated in a cardiology ward away from other patients.
The 74-year-old, who is serving a life sentence in Frankland prison, has had trouble breathing for the past week and slept poorly, according to the report.
Sutcliffe was jailed for life in 1981 for the murder of 13 women in Yorkshire and the North West between 1975 and 1980.
After a long stint at Broadmoor Hospital in Berkshire, he was transferred to HMP Frankland in 2016 after being deemed stable enough to serve a prison sentence.
In 1997 he was attacked by a fellow prisoner, who damaged his eyesight.
A spokesman for the Justice Ministry said: “We do not comment on individual prisoners.”
