ORIGINAL STORY 8.40AM UK: Microsoft has finally lifted the lid on the Xbox Series S, its lower-powered next-gen console that it has confirmed will launch for $ 299 / € 299. [UPDATE: And for £249 in the UK.]
Thurrot and Windows Central released the S Series images and prices overnight, with both reporting that the more robust Xbox Series X will launch for $ 499. Both consoles are expected to launch together on November 10.
After these leaks, Microsoft finally confirmed the S Series for itself in the tweet below.

Microsoft calls the S Series its “smallest Xbox” and another leak below shows the dimensions of the console compared to the X Series. It’s much smaller, shorter in height, and about half as thick. As expected, there is no disk drive.
Other details mentioned in last night’s reports include a $ 25 / month financing option for Series S, and a $ 35 / month option for Series X, which Microsoft is apparently willing to offer worldwide.

Of course, the world has known about the Xbox Series S for some time now, through various leaks of its name on the official packaging and from earlier whispers of a lower-powered console pegged at around 4TF (compared to 12TF Series X). ). Microsoft has yet to discuss the technical specifications of the S Series, but it is clear that a full reveal is imminent.
I reported earlier this year that the S Series had once been planned for a reveal much earlier, though Microsoft’s plans changed when E3 2020 was canceled, leaving June uncomfortably quiet for next-gen news. Microsoft’s next one considered a filing in August, until a final decision was made to delay its announcement until September.
