ROMAN REIGNS was oddly edited from WrestleMania’s Raw footage from the night before, as the mystery about his WWE status took a new turn.
Big Dog had to challenge Goldberg for the Universal Title at WrestleMania 36 last month, but withdrew days before filming.
Reigns, the real name Joe Anoa’I, considered the health risks of competing during the coronavirus pandemic to be too great after twice valiantly winning battles against leukemia.
The 34-year-old was replaced in the title match by Braun Strowman with the Monster Among Men to win the belt of his Hall of Fame foe.
As previously reported, WWE chief Vince McMahon had ordered that Reigns’ name not be mentioned on television since ‘Mania.
And now it appears that the former Shield member is also being removed from the footage.
WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view takes place this Sunday and a video promo showing past successful cashouts to promote the extravaganza was shown on Monday night.
It included Seth Rollins cashing his famous briefcase in the WrestleMania 31 main event between Brock Lesnar and Reigns, where he pinned the latter to become WWE champion.
But it seems WWE edited the clip, and instead of showing Rollins covering Reigns, the screen was cut black.
It remains to be seen when we will see Reigns in WWE, but he is not expected to return anytime soon.
And despite apparent attempts to airbrush him out, he won’t be forced to return to work sooner than necessary with WWE bosses letting him choose his own return date.
