Woman, in her 30s, dies after being hit by a bus on Smithdown Road

A woman in her 30s died after being hit by a bus tonight.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway after the tragedy occurred on Smithdown Road at around 7:20 p.m.

Emergency services, including the Merseyside Fire Service Search and Rescue Device, were on hand to help rescue the woman from under the bus.

North West Ambulance services treated the woman at the scene where she was sadly pronounced dead.

Road closures, on Smithdown Road, near the junction with Greenleaf Street, remain in place.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage.

A Merseyside police spokesman said: “We can confirm that an investigation is underway following a fatal collision in Liverpool tonight, Saturday April 3.”

“The pedestrian, a woman in her 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“His closest family members have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.

“Road closures remain in place and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
