A woman fell from the overpass on Queens Drive, prompting police to block the road during rush hour.
Emergency services were called to the roundabout between County Road and Rice Lane shortly before 3 pm to report that a woman had been found injured.
Police officers closed several roads near the Alsop gym as paramedics rushed to help the woman.
The victim, believed to be in his early 20s, was rushed to hospital shortly thereafter for treatment.
Its status is not yet known.
Merseyside Police have advised motorists to stay out of the area while emergency services deal with the incident.

In a statement, a spokesman for the force said: “We can confirm that emergency services are in Walton after a woman was found injured this afternoon, Wednesday October 28.”
“At 2.50 pm, officers and ambulance service were called to the Rice Lane overpass to report that a woman in her 20s had fallen.
“She has been taken to the hospital for an evaluation of her injuries.
“There will be a road closure while we deal with the incident.

According to the INRIX traffic site, queues are starting to accumulate around the area and the road is likely to remain closed for some time.
The site read: “A59 Rice Lane closed, queuing due to police incident at A5058 Queens Drive. At roundabout.
“The road under the A5058 is closed.”
