Woman dead after hit-and-run with Audi: police made an urgent appeal

A woman died in a hit and run in Bolton.

The tragedy occurred on Chorley New Road shortly after noon on Friday (November 13).

The woman was struck by an Audi near the Bolton School in the Heaton area of ​​the city.

The driver did not stay at the scene, police said.

A helicopter was seen flying in circles as officers searched the area.

No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.

A witness, who was traveling down Chorley New Road in a pickup truck, told the Manchester Evening News: “It was shocking.

“They shot themselves in the car.

“They didn’t even stop.”

Police have not released further details about the woman.

At 2.50 pm, the road remained closed in both directions between the intersections with Park Road and Chorley Old Road, near Queen’s Park.

There is a cordon in place, with a large presence of emergency services, including police, paramedics and fire crews.

Transportation chiefs urged people to avoid the area.

In a statement, GMP said: “Police were called today at 12.05pm today (Friday, November 13) to receive reports of a collision involving a black Audi and a pedestrian on Chorley New Road in Bolton.

“The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and unfortunately died at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

“The Audi couldn’t stay on the scene.

“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”

The force calls for anyone with information to come forward urgently.
