Rubén Neves said goodbye to his teammate and close friend Diogo Jota after his transfer to Liverpool.
Jota completed a move away from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night for a fee that could eventually rise to £ 45 million.
The popular Portuguese forward scored 44 goals in 131 games for Wolves after joining the initially loaned club of Atlético Madrid in 2017.
He was instrumental in the Wolves winning the championship title and played a major role in leading the club to an FA Cup semi-final and Europa League quarter-finals during his time at Molineux.
Jota joined Wolves at the same time as midfielder Neves, who has also been an integral part of the team’s rise under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Before joining the Wolves, Jota spent a season on loan at FC Porto, where he was teammates with Neves and now both are full-fledged internationals for their country.
And Neves, who has recently promised his immediate future to the Wolves, has reacted to Jota’s move to Anfield.
Posting a photo of the couple celebrating one of the Lobos de Jota’s three hat-tricks on Instagram, Neves said: “Four years. It was a pleasure.”
Jota is scheduled to make his first return to Molineux on March 13 of next year.
