Why is the result delayed?
As in many US states, voting has been severely disrupted by the coronavirus epidemic.
In Nevada, counties are counting hundreds of thousands of votes by mail in an unprecedented remote voting wave.
Election officials in the state have already counted all early in-person votes, in-person votes on Election Day, and mail-in ballots through Nov. 2.
Ballots received by mail on Election Day and ballots received next week remain to be counted.
… and the Trump campaign has launched a legal challenge
The Nevada secretary of state’s office initially said a new batch of results would be released Thursday morning, but Donald Trump’s campaign is launching a legal challenge in Nevada over claims that mail-in ballots had been tampered with.
They allege that the ballots were found in wastebaskets, people were receiving 18 ballots in their homes and they have not been able to observe signatures.
The campaign has also alleged that illegal votes are being counted in Clark County, Nevada, although they have not presented evidence of this publicly.
During a press conference, a local resident said that he had come forward to vote only to be told that someone had already cast their vote.
The team has already taken legal action in several states to try to stop the vote counting and has repeatedly tried to question the legitimacy of the process.
Who will win Nevada?
Probably Mr. Biden. The Democrat has a slight edge and is expected to benefit from mail-in votes.
However, Nevada was only a small victory for Democrats in 2016 and the Trump campaign has been working hard in the state to turn it red again.
