An ice weather warning has been issued for all of North Lincolnshire when the Beast from the East 2021 arrives.
The Met Office has issued the yellow alert covering Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe from 4 pm today until 11 am tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5.
Experts warn that icy sections are likely to cause difficult travel conditions and have urged people to be careful when using the roads.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Icy patches are expected to develop, especially on untreated surfaces, with showers coming in from the eastern shores and leaving the surfaces moist.
“There is also the possibility of some freezing rain, mainly in the north east of England, overnight through Tuesday. There is also likely to be more snow on the hills above 200-300m.
“Some small accumulations are possible with the southeast of Scotland and the northeast of England most at risk.
“Here 2-5 cm is possible in places above 300 m and 10 cm above 400 m, although ice seems to be the main danger.”
What to expect
The Met Office says that people should expect the following:
Some slip and fall injuries on icy surfaces
Probably some patches of ice on some untreated roads, sidewalks and bike lanes
