Watch the key moments of his presidency

Since his victory in 2016 and his inauguration in 2017, President Donald Trump has led one of the least conventional and memorable presidencies in recent memory.

From the controversy over the size of the crowd at the inauguration, to meeting with Kim Jong-un and taking the oath of three Supreme Court justices, Trump pushed forward with his unique style of leadership that at times stumped even correspondents from More experienced Washington.

To round out his term, Trump faced both impeachment and a devastating pandemic in the months leading up to the 2020 election.

For an overview of all the key moments that have defined President Trump’s time in the White House, watch the video above.

What has Trump accomplished during his presidency?

Throughout his presidency, Trump has never been far from the headlines and has had significant political impacts.

He fired FBI Director James Comey after describing the investigation into alleged ties to Russia as a “made up story.”

On foreign policy, Trump broke the US nuclear deal with Iran, while negotiating a landmark peace deal between Israel and Bahrain that followed a similar deal with the United Arab Emirates.

Trump struck deals and imposed tariffs that incentivized employers to create jobs in the United States, rather than outsource abroad in the face of growing hostility from China.

He had achieved a proud presidential record, including a 50-year low unemployment rate of 3.5 percent, though the pandemic left him in tatters. In a brutal quarter from April to June, the world’s largest economy contracted by a record 9.4 percent.

Yet Trump would credit himself with a “Trump super-recovery” after nearly half of all jobs lost to the coronavirus pandemic were recovered.

Trump’s best moments as president of the United States

President Trump ordered a missile strike against Syria in 2018 in a reprimand of Bashar al-Assad’s leadership and its attacks on his own people.

Trump said Assad’s policy “crosses many, many lines” in terms of foreign policy, and he demonstrated a ruthless streak that has also been shown in his policy toward Iran.

The president also paid an official state visit to the UK and reached out to Kim Jong-un, whom he met first in Vietnam and later in the demilitarized zone.

Then, in early 2020, the Senate finally rejected the impeachment articles that were directed at Trump, who brandished a copy of The Washington Post with the headline ‘Trump acquitted’ in celebration.

Just last month, the president contracted coronavirus, resulting in a stay at Walter Reed Hospital “as a precaution.”

Having recovered, he returned to a scintillating barrage of election rallies in the queue of the campaign and said of Covid-19: “Don’t let it take over you.”
