Both victims of the stabbing were taken to hospital where one later died. He has not been formally identified but his family members have been informed.

The second victim is still in hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, the force added.

Two men, whose ages have not been released by police, have been arrested and are in custody.

One was arrested on suspicion of GBH and had suffered a head injury, but did not need hospital treatment.

The other was arrested on suspicion of a skirmish.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said that “full investigations into the circumstances are continuing” and detectives from the specialized criminal squad have been informed.

There is an “extensive” crime scene with several roads closed, the force added.

A Section 60 warrant, allowing police to detain and search anyone in a specific area without reasonable cause, was authorized for all of Wandsworth one hour after the incident.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan described the young man’s death as “gruesome and tragic” and urged people to help the police.

Anyone with information, videos or images that can help with the investigation can call the police at 101 with CAD reference 5042/29 Oct.
