One person died after being hit by a train at Halewood station this morning.
A BTP spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to the Halewood station at 7.41 am this morning following reports of a victim on the tracks.”
“Paramedics also attended, however, unfortunately, one person has been declared dead at the scene.”
She added: “Officers are now working to identify the person and fit the family.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Northern confirmed that trains between Liverpool South Parkway and Manchester Oxford Road had to be stopped.
The Northwest Ambulance Service confirmed that they were called to the Halewood train station at 7.47 a.m.
A spokeswoman told the Liverpool ECHO: “A rapid response vehicle and an advanced paramedic were dispatched to the scene and an ambulance is still on the scene.”
In a tweet, Northern said: “As emergency services dealt with an incident between Liverpool South Parkway and Manchester Oxford Road, all lines are blocked.”
