Xherdan Shaqiri’s career at Liverpool could be coming to an end after he became a transfer interest.
Two clubs have expressed their desire to sign Shaqiri, whom the Reds value at around £ 20 million.
The interest led to the attacker being subsequently excluded from Liverpool’s squad to face Arsenal in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Thursday.
Eyebrows had been raised at his absence given how well the Swiss international had performed in the previous round’s 7-2 victory at Lincoln City the week before.
However, Shaqiri was not a substitute for the Gunners’ visit to the Premier League on Monday.
And now two clubs have emerged, one believed to be from Italy, they have contacted the Reds in relation to the 28-year-old.
Shaqiri was a wanted man during the January transfer window with Lazio and Sevilla eager to take the Anfield player away.
Liverpool, however, had no intention of leaving as they were still competing for the Premier League and the Champions League during the second half of last season.
Shaqiri has been hampered by injury since signing for £ 13.5 million from Stoke City in the summer of 2018, with his appearance at Lincoln being his first start since last December.
