Britain is preparing for another rainy and windy day when the Met Office issued a yellow rain warning.

It follows days of unstable weather, with strong winds and torrential rains across the country.

Forecasters have warned that the end of the month will follow a similar pattern, with more rain and winds expected.

A forecaster from the Met Office said: “It’s going to be a rainy and windy weekend, with more rain on Sunday.

“Perhaps there will be some brighter spells, but also some stormy showers.”

Strong winds will hit Britain today

On Sunday morning, rains could hit Britain, including a heavy band of rain in south-east England.

The forecaster said: “It will create some difficult travel conditions, there will be a lot of water on the road.”

In other places, there will be some more brilliant spells, but the rain will also spread to other parts of the country.

Some of the rains could be stormy, particularly in Wales, the south-west and southern England, the Met Office said.

A yellow rain warning is in effect for southern England

The meteorologist added: “It’s also going to be windy on Sunday afternoon, particularly in the English Channels, so the south coast could see gales for a while.”

Milder winds are expected in the north of England and Scotland.

It says: “Heavy rain is expected Sunday morning and may result in some flooding of roads and some properties.”

As long as the warning is in place, spraying and flooding is expected on the roads and could likely extend travel times.

Some homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, the Met Office said.

Bus and train services could also be affected, as trips would take longer than usual.

In the event of a flood, it is important to be prepared and react quickly.

The Environment Agency has some guidelines to help those living in a flood risk area deal with any emergency.

They include using a zip code checker to assess your risk and watch for flood warnings.

Heavy showers can pose a flood risk

Residents are also encouraged to pack a bag that includes medications and insurance documents in case they need to leave their home.

In the event of immediate danger, the Environment Agency urges people to call 999.

Temperatures remain mild during this period and slightly above average for this time of year.

Next week will also be unstable, with more winds and rain to come, the Met Office said.
