meIn case you missed it last night, children’s toys and clothing have been deemed “non-essential” and the Welsh government has banned sales in stores as the country entered a second national shutdown at 6am. pm on Friday.
Hundreds of businesses across the country have been ordered closed, and those that can stay open have been told to sell only “essential” items, in a move described by conservatives as “the crazed control monster.”
Electrical items, clothing, toys, furniture, bedding, and garden products have been cordoned off or removed from supermarkets, but groceries, batteries, rubber gloves, light bulbs, and alcohol are allowed.
During the original closure, only stores considered “essential”, such as supermarkets and hardware stores, were allowed to open, but there was no regulation of what items could be purchased. The government criticized the spying of the shopping cart with a heavy hand by some police forces.
Gloucestershire police said on Friday they would patrol the border to make sure people in Wales didn’t cross to buy contraband items.
