Two million Britons will begin to take the hit from Oxford Covid from January 4 with mass vaccination centers located on sports fields, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
“We are deploying as fast as we put the material in,” said an insider from Whitehall.
And government sources say that roughly 15 million people have been identified as being at the highest risk of death or requiring hospitalization if they contract the virus.
According to the Mail on Sunday, officials have said that this group could be vaccinated at the end of February, which means that the blockades can be lifted.
A source said: “The path to liberation is finally clearing up.”
Meanwhile, Chancellor Rishi Sunak believes that 2021 will be a “new era” for Britain as it sees a major vaccine rollout and the UK’s departure from the EU.
‘LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL’
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, he said: “This has been a difficult year for everyone in this country.
“There will be difficult days and months ahead, but there are reasons to look to a better future and what 2021 holds.
“The early launch of vaccines, and the incredible work of our scientists and the NHS, means that we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel with this pandemic.”
He added: “Next year is the first in a new era of global Britain and all it has to offer.”
Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, which is already being rolled out, the British jab can be stored in a standard refrigerator rather than -70 ° C, which means it will be easier to transport.
Patients will need two strokes, a month apart, and will be able to get the first one at emerging sites, including soccer stadiums and self-service centers.
