PA Media has released figures showing the seven-day rate for new coronavirus cases for each local authority in England. Here are the top 100 local areas, ranked according to the highest number of new cases per capita.
There are four figures for each local authority. They show: the rate of new cases in the seven days to September 13, expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people; (the actual total number of new cases in that period); the rate of new cases in the seven days to September 6, expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants; (and the actual number of new cases in that period).
According to PA Media, cities that see sharp increases in their seven-day rates include:
– Liverpool (from 56.8 to 106.4, with 530 new cases)
– Leicester (from 60.7 to 89.8, with 318 new cases)
– Salford (from 75.3 to 89.6, with 232 new cases)
– Newcastle upon Tyne (from 51.2 to 64.1, with 194 new cases)
