The UK warned the European Commission not to “build walls” around the distribution of Covid vaccines after the EU threatened to block jab exports to the UK.

NHS England data shows a total of 3,076,947 injections to people in London between December 8 and March 21, including 2,865,014 first doses and 211,933 second doses.
This compares with 4,654,830 first doses and 270,752 second doses given to people in the Midlands, a total of 4,925,582.
The breakdown for the other regions is:
– East of England: 2,840,060 first doses and 178,062 second doses, for a total of 3,018,122
– Northeast and Yorkshire: 3,710,129 first and 290,264 second doses (4,000,393)
– Northwest – 3,040,124 first and 197,897 second doses (3,238,021)
– Southeast: 3,934,479 first and 275,664 second doses (4,210,143)
– Southwest – 2,704,386 first and 189,249 second doses (2,893,635)
England: more than 25.4 million Covid-19 vaccines administered
A total of 25,476,409 Covid-19 vaccinations were carried out in England between December 8 and March 21, according to data from the NHS England, including the first and second doses, representing an increase from 325,777 the day before.
NHS England said 23,854,862 were the first dose of a vaccine, an increase from 295,359 the day before, while 1,621,547 were a second dose, an increase of 30,418.
EU restrictions on vaccine exports would be a ‘retrograde step’, says Irish prime minister
Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin warned that any European Union restriction on vaccine exports would be a “backward step” that could undermine the supply of raw materials for vaccine production.
Mr Martin told Ireland’s RTE radio that representatives of the vaccine manufacturer Moderna had expressed concern to him that EU vaccine export restrictions could affect its supply of raw materials for vaccine production.
48 more deaths from Covid in English hospitals
Another 48 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died at a hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 85,813, NHS England said on Monday.
The patients were between 48 and 102 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.
The deaths occurred between December 17 and March 21, with the majority occurring on or after March 7.
Four other deaths were reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

Wales administers 14,417 more first doses of vaccine
Public Health Wales said a total of 1,273,186 first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered in Wales, an increase of 14,417 from the previous day.
The agency said 346,058 second doses had also been administered, an increase of 7,099.
No more deaths in Wales
There have been another 150 cases of coronavirus in Wales, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 207,992.
Public Health Wales reported no further deaths, and the total for the country since the start of the pandemic stood at 5,488.

Ms Stratton said: “It is fundamentally the case that he believes this is a cautious roadmap but, if we get it right, irreversible.
“So taking the time to do it the way we’re doing it, with the five-week checkpoints (between stages), means we’re confident at every point that loosening is the right thing to do.
“That is why he is taking his time, because we want to make sure that we are doing the right thing.”
Spain extends the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine to young people aged 18 to 65
Spain’s public health commission has decided to extend the age range for AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine to people aged 18 to 65 from a previous range of 18 to 55, newspaper La Vanguardia said on Monday, citing sources not identified.
Spain will resume administering the injection on Wednesday after suspending its use last week due to blood clot problems. Health Minister Carolina Darias is expected to confirm the details of the resumption later on Monday.
