Charlie Brooker has confirmed that he will be taking a break from the Black Mirror due to the coronavirus.
The 49-year-old writer and comedian cast doubt on a sixth series in the dystopian series that would be filmed in the short term, as he said audiences would fight to ‘endure’ the show amid the global pandemic.
He told Radio Times: ‘I have been busy doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and what I’m not.

“ At the moment, I don’t know what stomach it would be for stories about crumbling societies, so I’m not working on one of those. I’m really looking forward to revisiting my comedy skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts meant to make me laugh. ”
The most recent Black Mirror series launched in June 2019 with just three episodes starring Miley Cyrus and Andrew Scott.
In the previous season, Brooker released the highly acclaimed Bandersnatch movie where viewers could choose their own adventure.
Success: Black Mirror has been a great success, but Charlie believes that the public does not want to see the dystopian show during the pandemic.
It comes after the BBC announced that the funny man would return to television for a coronavirus special, called Charlie Brooker’s Antibacterial Washcloth.
The half-hour show will focus on how people are dealing in their free time amidst the COVID-19 blockade, as well as what they are seeing.
In announcing the special, Brooker said in an ironic statement: “The BBC asked me to provide a quote for the press release, which is what you are reading now.”

According to her other Screenwipe episodes, Diane Morgan and Al Campbell will return in their reporting roles as Philomena Cunk and Barry S ** tpeas, respectively.
The show will air on BBC Two on Thursday, May 14 at 9 p.m.
The award-winning writer first aired the Screenwipe television review show in 2006 with a three-part series that ran in that format until 2008.
He then transitioned into one of the show’s specials, the most recent of which, The Best of 2010–2015 Wipe With Charlie Brooker, aired in December 2019.
Statement: In announcing the special, Brooker, 49, said in an ironic statement: “The BBC asked me to provide a quote for the press release, which is what you are reading now.”
In 2018, Brooker paid tribute to his wife Konnie Huq and their two children, revealing his dizzying romance with former Blue Host and becoming a father changed him for the better.
The talented writer told BBC 4’s Desert Island Discs that marrying Konnie at a ceremony in Las Vegas after just nine months together in 2010 and deciding to become a father was “the best decision” he had ever made.
On the marriage of the beloved couple, he said: ‘That was absolutely the right time.

“ It was strange because, for years, I did not know if I wanted to have children or a family, that seemed like something other people did, I could not perceive it as a future.
‘And then Konnie showed up and very early he said’ I want children and a family ‘and this kind of thing, and I heard myself say’ OK ‘, and I thought,’ oh right, why did I say that? ‘It was the best decision that I took. ”
Konnie, 44, who previously dated fellow presenter Richard Bacon for six years, met Charlie nine years ago when he appeared on an episode of his Screenwipe program on BBC One in 2008.
The star said she has a “fluttering romantic heart” underneath her sarcastic exterior. The couple now share two children, Covey, 7, and Huxley, 5.

Charlie said it was a “cliché” to say that becoming a father changed him, as the star had written columns in the past in which he expressed his dislike for children and said he didn’t want any.
She also admitted that she was afraid of not bonding with her baby and spoke about Konnie’s “horrible” emergency caesarean section while giving birth to eldest son Covey.
He said: ‘I remember when Konnie was pregnant with our first child Covey, this was like 2012 when she was born, and it was something that I could worry about, the pregnancy.
“ But my biggest fear was that I had heard of parents that, the baby was born and they just don’t connect, or for some reason, they don’t connect emotionally, and I really didn’t have babies and children.
‘I thought’, that will be me, what if I don’t feel anything? ‘
The couple raised their eyebrows when they first met due to their very different personalities, with Charlie described as a satirical pessimist, while Konnie has a clear image of happy and lucky.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2011, Konnie was asked, “Who or who is the greatest love in your life?” to which she replied: ‘My husband’.
