Two children were taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Swansea.

The incident occurred shortly before 2:40 p.m. on Cockett Road.

A large police presence has been on the scene, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

A section of the highway was closed for more than three hours until the intersection with Gors Avenue, and police advised people to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called in at approximately 2.38pm to receive reports of a traffic accident involving a vehicle and pedestrians on Cockett Road, Swansea.

“We responded with a rapid response vehicle, two emergency ambulances and a specialized medical vehicle.”

The road reopened around 6:20 p.m. and an information appeal was launched.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: “We are requesting information following a traffic collision between a car and two children on Cockett Road at 2:40 PM today.

“The two children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The road reopened at 6:20 p.m.
