Trump went into quarantine on Wednesday

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, will be taken to the hospital less than 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus.

Trump began exhibiting “mild symptoms” of Covid-19 on Thursday after revealing that he and his wife had entered quarantine on Wednesday night.

He was given a cocktail of drugs as a “precautionary measure,” the White House said, and felt “tired but in a good mood.”

He was transferred to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The news comes just over a month before the presidential election, where he will face Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

A White House spokesperson said in a statement: “President Trump remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms and has been working all day.

“As a precaution, and on the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the president will work from the presidential offices of Walter Reed for the next few days.

“President Trump appreciates the huge amount of support for both him and the first lady.”

Walter Reed, in the suburbs of Washington DC, is one of the largest and most recognized military medical centers in the United States. It’s the place that US presidents often go for an annual checkup.

Trump’s physician, Sean Conley, said in a statement Friday that the president had received “as a precautionary measure an 8-g dose of Regeneron’s polyclonal antibody cocktail,” which is administered to help lower virus levels and speed up recovery.

He was also taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin, and aspirin, Dr. Conley said.

“As of this afternoon he is still tired but in a good mood,” he added. The first lady was “fine with just a mild cough and headache.”
