President Donald Trump suggested that the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the world is the result of a “horrible mistake” made by China.
The president continued to point a finger at Beijing on Sunday during a virtual Fox News town hall meeting at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., where he said China sparked the outbreak before fighting to hide it.
When asked if there was enough evidence to show that the Xi Jinping regime misled the world community about the virus, the president said yes.
‘Well, I don’t think there is any doubt about it. We wanted to enter, they did not want us to enter. Things are coming out that are quite convincing. I don’t think there are any questions, ‘Trump said Sunday.
“Personally, I think they made a horrible mistake and didn’t want to admit it,” he added.
His comments came when a Department of Homeland Security report shared on Sunday revealed that US officials believe China “intentionally concealed the severity” of the pandemic in early January and amassed medical supplies.
The four-page report dated May 1 that was obtained by the Associated Press notes that China publicly downplayed the virus, but increased imports and decreased exports of medical supplies.
The document accuses China of covering its tracks by “denying export restrictions and obfuscating and delaying the provision of its trade data.”
It weighs on a leaked dossier compiled by the Five Eyes intelligence alliance that describes how Beijing made whistleblowers ‘disappear’, destroyed early virus samples, and wiped the internet of any mention of the disease in the early stages.
In an extensive interview last night:
- The president said he believed a coronavirus vaccine could be developed by the end of the year;
- He lashed out at Democrats who he said were politically motivated and “don’t want to see a good result”;
- Trump recognized that 100,000 Americans could die from the disease, after initially promoting 60,000 as the final toll;
- Trump claimed that the press treated him worse than Abraham Lincoln, as he sat in the shadow of the sixteenth president’s memorial;
- Vice President Mike Pence admitted that he should have put on a mask when he visited the Mayo Clinic after a violent reaction for ignoring the rules.

“Personally, I think they made a horrible mistake, and they didn’t want to admit it … like a fire … They couldn’t put out the fire,” said the president.
At Sunday’s virtual town hall, Trump said China did not admit its mistake in refusing to accept global aid.
‘We wanted to get in, but they didn’t want us there. Even World Health wanted to get in, they were admitted but much later, not immediately. They made a mistake, they tried to cover it, like a fire … They couldn’t put out the fire, ” Trump said.
He condemned the communist nation for failing to alert world leaders to the severity of the outbreak while continuing to allow flights to leave China.
“So they really mistreated the world, they prevented people from entering China, but they didn’t prevent people from entering the United States and the rest of the world.”
“They knew they had a problem, I think they were embarrassed by the problem,” added Trump.
When asked about President Xi, Trump said, “I am not going to say anything,” but “this should never have happened.”
Trump said the federal government is preparing a “strong” report on the origin of COVID-19 that has infected more than a million in the US. USA And killed more than 68,000, adding that it will be “very conclusive.”

Diplomats had complained about weak security measures at the Wuhan Virology Institute in the years before the coronavirus outbreak.
President Trump tweeted Sunday that intelligence reports show he was quick to address the coronavirus crisis because he had not been briefed on the matter until the end of January.
President Trump replied that he acted as he did in press sessions because almost 100 percent of journalists in the room are “hostile” to him. He then claimed that he was treated worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was killed.
Earlier Sunday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said “a significant amount of evidence” suggested the virus came from Wuhan’s laboratory.
‘I can tell you that there is a significant amount of evidence that this came from that laboratory in Wuhan. This is not the first time that we have had a world exposed to viruses as a result of failures in a Chinese laboratory, ” Pompeo said on ABC This Week.
The US intelligence community said it believes COVID-19 was not “man-made or genetically modified,” but was investigating whether it was caused by “a laboratory accident in Wuhan.”
However, Chinese officials and scientists have denied that there is any connection between the outbreak and the Virology Institute in Wuhan that studies infectious diseases, including the coronavirus.
Experts believe the virus started spreading in early February in the United States before forcing states to issue blocking directives for millions of Americans beginning in mid-March.
Last week, Trump claimed that he had seen evidence that the coronavirus started in the Wuhan virology lab and warned that it could impose $ 1 trillion tariffs on China in retaliation for the pandemic.
‘If I have. Yes, yes, ” Trump said when asked if he had seen evidence that the virus originated from the Wuhan Institute of Technology.

“We have said from the beginning that this was a virus that originated in Wuhan, China,” Pompeo said Sunday. ‘We were very distressed by that from the beginning. Remember, China has a history of infecting the world, and they have a history of running poor quality laboratories. ‘
Wuhan’s lab is located near a wet market that has been identified as the likely epicenter of the outbreak that occurred late last year.
However, the president did not disclose the evidence that confirmed his suspicions, when asked by a journalist.
I can’t tell you that. I am not allowed to tell you, ‘he replied.
The Five Eyes spy document, which was leaked to the Australian Telegraph on Saturday, also details how studies of “risky” bat-related viruses were conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The 15-page document marks Beijing’s secret of the pandemic as an “assault on international transparency” and points to cover-up tactics deployed by the regime.
He cites several studies led by scientist Dr. Shi Zhengli at the Institute. in deadly bat-derived coronaviruses, with at least one of the virus samples with 96% genetic compatibility for Covid-19.
But as part of a massive ‘erasure and destruction of evidence’, the state ordered that samples of the virus be destroyed in laboratories while the wet market was whitewashed to extinguish the remains of the disease.
On Sunday, Trump blamed US intelligence officials. USA For failing to warn the country about the severity of the virus he tweeted: “ Intelligence has just informed me that he was correct and that they did NOT bring up the CoronaVirus issue until the end of January, just before he expelled China from the US. USA Also, they only talked about the virus in a very non-threatening or factual way …
